How we handle data on reshh.com and in the Reshh browser extension.
Single-purpose capture extension
This Privacy Policy explains how Reshh (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use the Reshh website and the Reshh browser extension (the “Extension”). By using Reshh or installing the Extension, you agree to this policy.
The Extension’s single purpose is to let you capture visual content from pages you visit and save it to your Reshh account. Specifically, it allows you to:
The Extension does not track your browsing history or behavior outside of the explicit capture actions you initiate.
When you use the Extension, it may access information from the current page only when you explicitly trigger it (for example, by right-clicking an image and choosing “Save to Reshh” or by using “Save Screenshot”).
The data accessed can include:
This information is used only to create a post in your Reshh account with proper context. The Extension does not read content from other tabs or windows that you have not interacted with via the Extension.
The Extension stores only a small amount of data locally:
Reshh access token and expiration time – used to authenticate API requests to reshh.com on your behalf. You can revoke it at any time by clicking Disconnect in the Extension popup.
Temporary capture data – screenshot data and related page metadata are kept briefly in session storage so the capture editor can open and send the post to Reshh. This data is removed when the flow completes or the browser session ends.
No other long-term user profile or behavioral data is written to browser storage by the Extension.
When you save something via the Extension, the following information is sent to Reshh’s backend:
On the server side, this data is treated like any other content you save in Reshh and is governed by this Privacy Policy and any additional terms presented on the site.
We do not sell this data to third parties or use it in advertising networks.
The Extension does not intentionally collect or store the following, except to the extent you voluntarily include such data in a capture:
The Extension only interacts with the page you are on when you explicitly ask it to save something.
The Extension requests a small set of browser permissions in order to perform its single purpose:
<all_urls> and reshh.com so the Extension can read the current page’s image URL, alt text, and metadata when you explicitly save something and send it securely to Reshh. These permissions are used only to support the capture-and-save workflow. They are not used for passive tracking or unrelated features.
The Extension communicates only with Reshh’s own backend (reshh.com and documented development hosts). It does not embed third-party analytics or advertising libraries.
If you use privacy tools such as Brave Shields or other content blockers, they may prevent the Extension from reading page content on certain sites. In those cases, the Extension may show an error message and will not save data from that page unless you allow it in your browser.
Content you save via the Extension is retained in your Reshh account until you delete it.
You can:
All communication between the Extension and Reshh’s servers uses HTTPS.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the data we store. However, no system is perfectly secure, and you should avoid capturing content that contains highly sensitive personal or confidential information unless you are comfortable storing it in Reshh.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes, we may provide additional notice within Reshh or through other appropriate channels.
